General Motors East Africa Limited was formed in 1975 and is a joint venture between General Motors Corporation (57.8%), Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (20%), ICDC Investments (17.8%) and Itochu Corporation (4.4%). The vehicle manufacturing plant in Nairobi assembles a wide range of Isuzu trucks and buses. It is the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the Eastern Africa region with more than fifteen models. GM East Africa also retails fully built Chevrolet and Opel brands. General Motors East Africa Limited is certified to ISO 9001:2000 (quality management system) and ISO 14001:2004 (environment management system), the best known testimonials to world class quality and environmental standards respectively. This is in light of the emerging international standards in production and food safety, occasioned by increased consumer awareness among other global concerns. Hortifair Kenya is thus perhaps the most important tool with which FPEAK executes this objective.

Export Promotion Council

The Export Promotion Council (EPC) is Kenya’s premier institution in the development and promotion of export trade. Established in 1992,EPC’s primary objective was to address bottlenecks that were facing exporters and producers of export goods and services with a view to increasing the performance of the export sector. The Council was therefore established for the purpose of giving an outward orientation to an economy that was hitherto inward looking. Over time,the EPC has fully embraced the mandate of co-ordinating and harmonising export development and promotion activities in the country,providing leadership to all national export programmes. Today,EPC is the focal point for export development and promotion activities in the country.
